Subject:Celadon jar - Korean or Japanese
Posted By: Shea Tue, Jul 23, 2019 IP: 173.73.102.2

Hello forum members,
I have three small celadon jars. One appears to be a vintage Chinese, the other a modern Korean. This one appears to be the oldest. This one looks Korean but the marks on the base have me stumped. It is about 3 inches tall and 3.5 inches across the body with an opening measuring a little more than 1.25 inches.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Most of these inlaid pieces are fairly recent and from what I have seen, primarily of Japanese manufacture.
The Korean stuff from the Koryo period does not look like this, bases are quite different!

Thanks for confirming, Larry. I didn't think it could possibly be as old as the Koryo pottery. I just didn't know if it was Japanese or one of the more modern Korean pieces.
