Subject:Identification of Japanese Art
Posted By: Ryan Mon, May 17, 2010 IP: 68.228.251.244

These are four paintings which I would like to have identified if possible. I have no experience in art, so I'm not going to be much help, though I will try to answer any questions regarding these paintings. I have no idea the age or the media used. The paintings are all 17.5 inches by 10 inches framed in 21.25 inch by 15 inch matting. Each painting depicts a seasonal scene in Japan, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each is numbered on the matting to which the artwork is attached. Spring is No.5057, Summer is 5046, Autumn is 5059, and Winter is 5052. There is also a stamp on the back of each piece which reads:

All Rights Reserved
Nishinomiya - Tokyo
3-7-15 Negishi Taito-ku

I believe this is just the name and address of the gallery or publisher.

Thank you very much for your time.

I am sorry the "Spring" artist's signature and seal are so hard to read... the seal is obviously a squarish shape, while the others all appear to be the same seal within a circle. Unfortunately, the "Spring" seal has transformed into a pink blot rather than a legible seal.

I cannot hlp with the seals, I'm afraid. But I'm quite certain these are 20th century productions created for the tourist trade. I've seen many like them.

Hello Sirs.
I appreciate if you may help me. I have these two paitings for more then 35 years. Now, I will move to another country and they might be among the things I will not take with me. I like them very much and would like to know if they have some value, so I can sell them to someone that gives the same value I gave all these years.
I thank you for the attention.
Waiting for your reply.
