Questions re: Chinese Roof Tile |
Posted By: rat Posted Date: Apr 24, 2017 (04:10 PM) |
Message Whether genuine or not (I have no expertise with these), this is supposed to be a Ming dynasty (1368-1644) roof tile but seems as you have noted somewhat cruder than other examples. The headdress is Ming in style, but I think the figure is meant to be a high-ranking government official rather than a warrior. Am not optimistic that you will be able to learn a specific date or place of manufacture, as I imagine there were local kilns across the country that would supply local structures with tilework including these decorative pieces.
