Message Both pictures (scrolls) are Japanese 1st, Calligraphy of a known Chinese poem. The poet: Liu Zhen (劉禎)-217 (Han Dynasty) Title: 贈従弟 Present to a younger brother (3rd strope) 亭々山上松.....etc. The signature of calligrapher, 若舟 Jakushun or Wakabuna (Art name) I have found out from the Japanese language net that his real name was Nawa Matahachiro (1864-1928) Between 1918-20 he was the Admiral of Japanese Navy.(Google) 2nd An another Chinese poem in running script. I could not find out the poem. In the second line from left there is the signature, 名和 Nawa The inscription on the edge, 花岡正ロ To Hanaoka Masa.. (last character illegible) 名和又八郎 海軍大将畫(陸海軍中将時代)大正十二年 五月表記 Calligraphy of Nawa Matahachiro -Admiral of Navy Written in May 1926 when he was Vice Admiral (corection in text by the writer army to navy) Interesting discovery, With regards, I.Nagy Post a Response |
