Message Yes, the painter is same, but on this work he didn`t use the Japanese era name in dating (in this case would be Meiji) Title, 秋山肅寺 - Autumn mountain and quiet temple Colophon, 戊戌小春 Year of Earth-Dog (1898) Beginning of Spring 冩於檗山獅子林 - Painted in the Lion Grove* at the Boshan (Bakuzan) Temple Signature, 華洞 Hwatong (Korean) Kadō (Japanese) Huadong (Chinese) * Lion Grove is a name of a Garden in Suzhou, China The temple in the neighbourhood belongs to the Huangpo (Ǒbaku) school of Rinzai sect, so the Boshan (Bakuzan) could be its shortened form. After this it is still not clear whether our artist is Korean, Japanese or Chinese. With regards, I.Nagy Post a Response |
