Your praying monk probably is one of two that usually are seen flanking an image of the Shakyamuni Buddha in Burmese temples to represent the Buddha's two principal disciples, Sariputta and Moggllana. You can query the names on Google and get a host of other information. Your monk image probably dates to the late 19th or early 20th century.

Here's a pair I collected in Burma when it was still Burma. They are shown out of context, with an image of the Maitreya Bodhisattva in his avatar form as the Cloth Sack Monk or 'Budai Heshang'.
