The vase is Japanese from the late Meiji period (1868-1912) in a style associated with studios in Kyoto. Such pieces often are mistakenly called Satsuma for being made of a similar type of stoneware.

If lid and body are both free of damage or serious wear, the vase would merit a retail price of between US$300-$400 in many galleries, perhaps a bit more in shops located in areas that attract substantial Japanese tourism.

Best regards,

Bill H.
