2 Very Old Silk Japanese/Chinese Watercolor |
Posted By: Phate008 Posted Date: May 19, 2012 (10:55 PM) |
Message I got these from my grandmother who had them for a long time. As long as I can remember actually. I've seen ones like it that were from the 1800's, but I am not sure about this one. I know she had it re framed in the 70's professionally. They both look great. They are yellowing a tiny bit and have a few spots here and there but they look great considering they may be very old. I think this may be a famous artist because it is very well done. The brush strokes are lovely and these paintings truly are a work of art. One of the ones that was comparably similar was very well drawn as well and had a lot of the same attributes: mountains, a body of water, sail boats, etc. People commented on the painting and said that it was Chinese and made to look like a Japanese painting. Any help is appreciated. If anyone could translate the symbols and maybe the artist name in the stamp that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Post a Response |
