Message This is a Japanese vase, probably dating from the late 19th-early 20th century. Such pottery was quite popular in the West during the late Victorian and concurrent Art Nouveau eras, and Japanese makers of it were well represented at world trade expositions held in Europe and North America at that time. The factory markings on the base reveal nothing about the maker, though many studios in the Kyoto area were engaged in the painting of this kind of crackle-glaze stoneware. Best regards, Bill H.
