Re: Vase Identification |
Posted By: Bill H Posted Date: Aug 16, 2013 (11:57 PM) |
Message The decoration appears from its style and enamel tones to make this vase a mid-20th century or somewhat later Chinese product, its figural motif possibly inspired by "Dream of the Red Chamber" or another classical literary work. The character written in black on the base (瑞) is pronounced "Rui" in Mandarin and means "Felicitous Omen". It also is the abbreviation for "Switzerland" (瑞士 - Ruishi) in Chinese. Best regards, Bill H. Post a Response |
