Message This is a machine-made "Jacquard" type woven picture, identified in the right-hand column of characters as depicting West Lake in the Pinghu area of Hangzhou Municipality, Zhejiang province, during the fall. In the left-hand column it is indicated to have been made by a factory at Hangzhou. I believe this probably is a souvenir of West Lake dating from about the mid-20th century if not a few years before the Japanese invasion of 1936. I've seen other such pieces on the forum but now can't seem to find the right key-word for the search engine. Best regards, Bill H. Post a Response |
