This mark has appeared on the forum in the past in conjunction with Chinese white metal or pewter objects produced at Shantou (汕頭 - old name Swatow) in the southern province of Guangdong. Some of them also were embellished with artwork behind glass, usually prints of paintings.

The two characters at the top are "Chao Se" (潮色 - "Shantou beauty" or "style"), while the larger characters in the middle appear to read down from the right in three stacks as "Zhen Ke" (真科 - "Genuine"), "Zhu Shun" (朱順 - The factory name, Zhu being a surname), and "Dian Tong" (点銅 - "ornamental metal", in products such as this often synonymous with "pewter").

The two characters at the bottom of the mark read across from the right as 'Lao Dian' (老店 - "original shop").

My best blind stab in the dark is that your unseen pot may date anywhere from the 1930's to the 1950's, which is the typical period when most of these items seem to have been made. All of them may not be pewter but possibly spelter-type metal in some cases.

Best regards,

Bill H.
