Re: translate character on Chinese carving |

Message The character is a stylized version of "Shou" (壽 - Longevity), as is befitting of your image of the Daoist God of Long Life, called "Shoulao" by devotees. His other day job is acting as one of three Daoist Star Gods, in which trinity he is called "Shouxing". See the link for an appreciation of how many written variants exist of this understandably popular "Shou" character. Best regards, Bill H. Link :Longevity Post a Response |
