Resembles Ota Toshiro |
Posted By: beadiste Posted Date: Feb 10, 2015 (06:15 PM) |
Message marks as seen on page 253 of Fredrick Schneider's The Art of Japanese Cloisonne Enamel The author indicates Ota Toshiro was active ca. 1868-1940. He also notes: "Given the variety, frequent high quality, and apparent dates of pieces bearing this mark, both the author and an authority in Shippo-cho believe this mark to be Ota Toshiro, probably used on cloisonne he sold as retailer-exporter, rather than pieces he manufactured himself. The mark reads 'O.'" [long accent over the O] Post a Response |
