porcelain plaque - Need info on artist Xiong Fuqing |

Message The brief bio you found on the Chinese auction site webpage says that Xiong was greatly influenced by Wang, not the reverse. This seems to be a modern imitation to me, not a work by Xiong. Compare the rendering of the male hands in each, for example, or the quality of the line that forms the tree contours in your plaque vs the reed in the auction site's plaque. The same quavering nervous line is seen in the detail of the branch next to the inscription in your final picture above. Post a Response |
