Message Both the signature and mark appear to contain the same characters, 恩星, which literally mean "Favorable Star". Now all we have to do is wait for someone to tell us whether this is the work of a Chinese, Japanese or Korean potter, and whether the scene depicts a local farmer or one located somewhere else in Asia. I've seen a lot of Korean vases with the base-mark off center like this, and if this is indeed a Korean work, the mark would read "Un Seng". If Chinese, it would have a mandarin reading of "En Xing". I'm unsure about which of the several possible Japanese readings might apply. Best regards, Bill H. Post a Response |
