A fine example of a relatively early style of the Mandalay school, this lovely figure is said to portray Lord Rama. He originally held a staff in his right hand; the fingers and thumb of the right hand are a recent restoration. The alert, expressive face and the fine modeling of the body are typical of the best sculpture of the Burmese Mandalay carvings. Detail: head-on Detail: back |
