Painted trunk

This trunk is a fine example of an central Tibetan trunk with original painting. It features a central image of offerings, including music (cymbals and flute), the conch, and fruit. This image epitomizes the importance of material and imagined offerings in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Above the offerings is a double dorje, a symbol of indestructible, adamantine wisdom.

The painting on this trunk is unusual, departing from the triratna motif usually found on the monastic storage trunks. The condition is good, with original paint and original iron hardware.
