Including textiles from the exhibition Style from the Steppes: Silk Costumes and Textiles from the Liao and Yuan Periods, 10th to 13th Century AD, which was the first exhibition ever to focus on this subject. The exhibition comprised a group of thirteen pieces which are outstanding for their quality, variety of techniques and designs and have opened a window on to a remarkably rich culture which in the past has often been misleadingly labelled ‘barbaric’. |
