3. A Fine Bronze and Silver Bell Handle
Mongolia
18th-19th Century
Height: 3" (7.5 cm)
A Fine Bronze and Silver Bell Handle

The finial or handle is finely cast, and depicts four makara or water dragons, emitting foliate scrolls which form four of the five tines of the vajra handle. Below this is the head of a deity with an elaborate arrangement of the hair behind, while to the front he wears a high, five petalled silver crown and heavy earrings and celestial scarf.

Below the head is a complicated 'cloud collar' above the attaching shaft.
