The “Goddess of the Dawn” riding her chariot drawn by seven boars, which carries the sun. As she is seated in front of the sun, she is therefore invisible. Her right hand is in the gesture of granting wishes, while her left holds a branch of the asoka tree – a plant with medicinal properties. Marici oversees thirty-six celestial deities and seventy-two earthly deities. These one hundred and eight deities are in charge of bestowing blessings and punishment depending on the karmas from people's previous lives and their current lives. |
