A Fine Miniature Thangka Depicting Heyagriva

The thangka in brilliant colours depicts the three-headed Heyahgriva, the 'Horse-necked One' - distinguished by the 3 diminutive horse heads protruding from his streaming red hair. He stands within an aureole of two types of gold, one in a swirl pattern over the other, the aureole ringed by roiling flames. His six arms hold his many attributes, and his many legs trample on serpents who writhe beneath his clawed feet. His lotus throne rises from within a verdant landscape which terminates in a step cliff below which crashes the Sea of Blood, from which jagged mountains arise. A Diminutive image of the Buddha floats above him, while below him the Protector Deity of Mongolia, Begtse, tramples upon Ganapati within a burst of flames. Blessing in Tibetan Script to the reverse.
