Patuko Agam Restoration (1993-7) |
Before |
After |
The restoration of this near-ruined shrine
building rescued a rare and exotic building type, the towered Agam of Nepalese
architecture. This fine 17th century example of the agam is of outstanding importance
being one of a handful which survive and remains in its historical use under the priests
of the former Patan kings. The excellent standards of conservation work achieved
(including model seismic strengthening) have been reported in the November, 1996
Monitoring Report to the UNESCO World Heritage Center. Location: Patan Darbar World Heritage Site. |
