Eight Taras
Detail of Astamahabhayatara, the 8 Taras who protect from the eight great Dangers, Tibet, late 17th c. Probably from Eastern Tibet, the painting shows white Tara, or saptalocanatara (seven-eyed Tara) in the center - painted in gold - surrounded by vignettes showing scenes of the "eight great dangers", such as fire, warfare, etc.
