Detail:Ox Cart Detail
A painted pottery ox and cart from the Northern Qi period. The ox has an expressive face with open eyes, a slightly opened mouth, and protruding horns and ears. His front right leg is slight bent which shows a subtle motion. His belly hangs low and an ornamental harness rests on his back. The cart is finely modeled with a front compartment and an open back door. The holes on the cart’s front most likely were originally used hold the harness to attach the ox to the cart. The wheels are separate from the cart each with a protruding spindle and detailed spokes.
