Subject:Ling-fu Yang
Posted By: Linda Fri, Mar 17, 2006 IP: 24.118.201.236

I purchased my set of the 4 season prints in the early 70's. I have tried (unsuccessfully) to find out any info on this artist.

I also have the four season prints. With mine came a little bio on Ling-Fu Yang. It reads as follows:
The Famous Chinese Lady Artist- Before coming to the U.S. in 1937, Professor Ling-fu Yang was President of North-Eastern Fine Arts Colege, Mukden, and, later, Curator of the National Museum, Peiping, China. She won first prize in an art contest, held in Peiping in 1928, in which three thousand artists participated. In the U.S., Professor Yang has taught Chinese art at several universities and art institutes, including the International House at the University of California, Stanford University and College of Pacific. Her paintings became better known to the American public through several series of reproductions, including the famous Four Seasons series, published by Cathay Arts of San Francisco in the forms of prints and informal notes.
Hope this info helps with what you are interested in knowing about her.

Thanks so much for the info! Very interesting. I finally had the prints matted & framed just a couple of years ago (been carting them around for 30 years!) and still just love them. Will print and put the info you supplied on the back of one of the frames. Thanks again.
