Subject:Help identifying a piece of art
Posted By: Ian Tue, Jun 27, 2023 IP: 2607:fb90:3c87:8a6e:

Hi,

I am writing with the hope that someone might be able to tell me a bit about this piece of art. I recently found it at Goodwill. I don't know much about Asian-themed art (this is the first piece I've ever picked up). I'm not obsessed about its prospective value - I mostly just want to understand more about it. Any suggestions about its country of origin, the style or category of painting, or its possible age (I've assumed its fairly recent) would be appreciated. Someone chased me out into the parking lot after I bought it to ask if it was "the real deal" (whatever that means!). I told him I was clueless but just hoped it was at least something more than what I'd find by the dozen at Home Goods :)

It is very probably a reproduction of a Genji Monogatari Emaki (scroll)
