Subject:artist identification for Japanese woodblock print
Posted By: Pat Wed, Mar 13, 2024 IP: 68.199.200.146

Hello,
Is there someone who can help identify the artist for this print .
The only mark we can identify is that of late 19th cent. collector-dealer Hamilton Easter Field in the left.
Thank you in advance.
Pat

Ryūryūkyo Shinsai (柳々居辰斎, 1764-1820s).

IMO, this is already a reprint of an original surimono, eventually late 19th century.

Guy.

The paper and inks would indicate an early surimono type print. Early 19th century. Poem block is missing. Likely an original if Field acquired it as such.
