It’s at 14” in height and with an inscription on the bottom.
Would greatly appreciate your input on the cultural origin and period, please πŸ™
Many thanks!

Also, the wood has become brittle at some areas around the outside near the base. Would love your advice on how to preserve the statue. Should I apply some oil/wax, …? πŸ™

The text is not very legible, so I adjusted the photo to enhance it a bit here. I would also try to take clearer photos, as well.
Just am curious about whether the writing is Chinese or Japanese, if could be deciphered, and what it means πŸ™

It is definitely Japanese.
Two names appear side by side at the bottom of the statue,
Right,
θŠζ± β…Ήγ€€γ€€Kikuchi X
(Unfortunately the third character of the name is illegible)
Left,
田村 Tamura

Names above are probably donors.

With regards,
I.Nagy
