Subject:Japanese Bronze Boar

Hello All.
A friend of mine just got this at a market. We both think it is bronze and Japanese but we cannot decipher the kanji. Can anyone help and give us a rough idea of age? I would think it around 1900 but bronze isn't my stronge point.
