Dear friend Marco
Chinese porcelain tea caddy, likely dating from the late Qing Dynasty The smooth white porcelain base indicates production in Jingdezhen, but could be a good copy. Mainly because the silver or silver-plated lid is a European in manufacture. That's the reason of the doubt...It looks like British, but also arab-persian....and even Japanese with we look closely it has that classic japanese iconography of chrisantemus flower and the bird. But,what if its not a mix multi influencies copy, but a well done hallmarks of export porcelain blending Chinese symbolic language with patterns that appealed to European tastes?
If its that, good for everyone of us. Some might argue that such export wares represent a dilution of authentic Chinese artistic tradition, shaped by external demand rather than internal innovation. Not me, because I could view it as cosmopolitan artifacts of cross-cultural exchange, blending technical mastery with global aesthetics.
A hug,
Renato Araújo :)
