Subject:Chinese artwork

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to request assistance in identifying a Chinese painting that was gifted to the McDonnell Douglas Metrology Department in the 1970s or 1980s during a delegation visit from China.

The painting features a young child in traditional clothing sitting beside a black tiger-like figure, rendered in a traditional brush painting style. The work includes Chinese calligraphy and a red artist’s seal, which I have attached as a high-resolution PNG for closer inspection.

🖼️ Background Information:
• The painting was presented by Chinese professionals as a diplomatic or goodwill gift.
• The occasion was a technical or scientific exchange visit to McDonnell Douglas.
• The calligraphy near the seal appears to read “天蘇” (Tian Su), possibly the artist’s name.

📎 Attached: Cropped and enhanced image of the red seal stamp.

I would greatly appreciate any insight you can provide regarding:
1. The identity of the artist.
2. The significance or meaning of the seal.
3. The potential historical or artistic value of the piece.

Thank you very much for your time and expertise. I am happy to provide additional images or context if helpful.

Signature,
天蘇 Tiansu
Seal,
盧氏天蘇璽 Seal of Master Lu Tiansu

Lu Tiansu 盧天蘇 - Surname and given name
Unidentifiable artist.

Otherwise, the black tiger-like figure next to the child is very similar to the Japanese cartoon character Pokemon, which became famous in the 2000s -albeit with yellow color.

With regards,
I.Nagy
