九九 澳帝崩御
馬塲勝彌
大正三年十二月二十四日
99. Death of the Austrian Emperor – commentary by Baba Katsuya
Of interest, is while the sketch, dated Dec. 24, 1914, announces the death of the elderly Franz Joseph I, who was in declining health, he did not pass until November 1916. (Perhaps the sketch is just wishful thinking on Chuta's part.) I'm hoping Baba's commentary might bring some clarity to the sketch.
