Subject:Fine Satsuma vase identification
Posted By: Dimi Fri, Jun 20, 2025 IP: 83.250.51.65

Hello everybody!
I am looking to identify the maker of this fine Satsuma vase. It is large, 50cm+ and decorated with roosters, cranes etc with gold dotted pattern. It is unsigned and likely older 19th C.
I have found the the same gold frieze pattern at the rim and base on Kinkozan vases online, so it could be by Kinkozan.
All opinions welcome!
Best regards!

While this is undoubtedly a very fine example of Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma earthenware however no help with identification will be likely without a picture of the base & any marks on it.
Not all Satsuma wares are marked, in fact some of the finest are not marked but other than analysing individual artists styles & coming up with an approximate attribution, there's no way to be sure from which workshop or artist it originated.
This is very good though and could easily be Kinkozan or Bizan piece.
