Subject:Looking for info on this ceramic plate
Posted By: Mike Cheung Tue, Jun 24, 2025 IP: 76.102.53.101

Hi, I am seeking help identifying the background on this ceramic plate that has been in my family for over 60 years. It originally belonged to my grandfather who lived in Taiwan until his passing. It is about 18" in diameter.

I suspect it might be Japanese given the maker's name on the back, 芳祥堂持製. There is also a smaller mark that I can't understand.

Any help would be much appreciated!

The picture seems not to have come through.

The "芳祥堂特製" Hōshōdō Tokusei - Specially made by Hōshōdō - marking indicates that it is a Japanese Arita ware from the Taishō or early Shōwa
period.

With regards,
I.Nagy
