Subject:Kana confirmation Sketch 307 - Itō Chūta
Posted By: Irwin Mon, Dec 08, 2025 IP: 174.127.209.134

Hi,
Wondering about the character following あ in the dialogue between the comic characters Jirō and Tarō in the commentary by Itō Chūta on his own sketch Russians Flee to Japan. It seems to make sense that it is き, but I see an additional mark that confuses me. Anyway, confirmation of that first line of dialogue would be appreciated (along with the rest of my below transcription.

My current transcription and translation is:
忠太
次郎
「あきが廃帝だろう」
太郎
「アレがたちあふ姫ダロー」

— Chūta
Jirō:
“Isn’t that one the deposed emperor?”
Tarō:
“And that must be Princess Tachiana!”

Continuing thanks.

The kana that appears to be き is an alternative form of れ
That is かれが........
This れ is derived from the cursive form of character“連”.

Also, the last syllable of the princess's name is not ふ, but な.
たちあな Tachiana (Tatyana)
This な is derived from the cursive form of character 奈.
