Signature,
呉山作 Painted by Gozan
Seal,
呉山 Gozan

In the literature available to me, I find five painters with this art name, among them two on the internet. The signatures and seal prints on the pictures assigned to the two painters found on the internet do not match the above. If you could send me a picture of the entire painting, that might help.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear Bruce,
Thank you for sending the pictures.
Well, as this case proves, it is not enough to say something based only on the signature and seal. The pictures speak for themselves. These pictures show that the paintings are not very sophisticated works by a contemporary Chinese painter. The Chinese reading of 呉山 signature and seal is Wushan(Mt. Wu). This is an art name that can also be used by Chinese painters. Unfortunately, I am unable to identify any contemporary Chinese painter known by this name. In China, there are countless amateur painters who paint pictures depicting horses similar to those of Xu Beihong.
With regards,
I.Nagy
