Dear Forum Members,
I am following up on my earlier post regarding my Japanese bronze altar vase (usubata form).
I have now attached additional close-up photos showing:
Full view of the vase
Phoenix bird relief band and dragon-head ring handles
Lobed pedestal base with lotus motifs
Close-up of the base mark
The piece features a rich dark patina consistent with age. The base has a stamped mark that I believe reads 宗甫 (Sōho?) though I welcome any correction on this reading.
I would greatly appreciate any help from forum members in identifying:
The maker or foundry
Confirmation of period (Meiji 1868–1912?)
Any additional information about this form and its use
I am most grateful for any guidance the forum's experts are able to offer.
With warm regards
