Subject:Chinese glazed figure
Posted By: VSidur Tue, May 26, 2026 IP: 78.210.232.122

Bought this guy just a couple of weeks ago. A wanna-be “Liu Hai and the toad” Shiwan pottery in average conditions, but that I find nice (not looking to the bargain of the century…)
There is a seal in the interior, looks like Pan xxx (I read many pages on the relatively common Pan Yu Shu forgeries, perhaps one of them)
Any help in reading the seal?
Thanks to you all!!!

Square seal in regular script reads,

潘鐵逵製 Made by Pan Tiekui

Pan Tiekui (birth and death dates unknown) was a renowned Shiwan ceramic sculptor from Heqing Village, Jiujiang, Nanhai, Guangdong Province, during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China period. He was the younger brother of Pan Yushu and was known for his realistic ceramic figure sculptures.

With regards,
I.Nagy
