Subject:Hiroshige cursive kanji challenge
Posted By: Renato Sat, Oct 10, 2026 IP: 177.140.71.192

Dear friends, I bought this hanetsuki (羽根突き), an old ukiyo-e entitled "Little Girl with Battledore and New Year Pine Tree", by Utagawa Hiroshige I. Can anyone help me identify the poem inscribed on the work?

I think it is indecipherable. I tentatively highlight the following fragments: き羽の... (Ki-hane no...) “fabrics and feathers for hanetsuki...”; or 木羽の (kiba no – wooden tiles/shovels); or perhaps 年とるを〔?〕 (toshi toru o) “to grow old”; 惜しむ (oshimu) “to lament” or “to regret losing”; 利牛 (Rigyū), possibly related to the signature of the poet Ikeda Rigyū.
You guys can take a look at the Hiroshige work "the girld with battledore here:

Thank you in advance,
Renato
