Subject:Vase with Blood Red Glaze on Interior
Posted By: Tracy Chalhoub Tue, Jun 24, 2008 IP: 67.171.24.175

I purchased this vase many years ago from a collector of Asian antiques. Is it Japaneses? Any thoughts. It is very fine, thin and the interior has a blood red glaze. No marks.
Regards,
Tracy

Tracy,

Looks like slip-cast mass produced ware for florist, gift shop, etc. Could have been made anywhere last 30 years. Could have had sticker saying place made.

Persons collecting Asian antiques also buy other things or could receive flowers in vase as gift.

Good luck,
Cal

Thanks Cal,
I'll take it off the forum before I embarrass myself any further.
Regards,

Tracy,

Only stupid question is one not asked.

You have right to like anything appeals to you. Can be interesting in glazes, need not be priceless antique!

Have in own accumulation an unmarked mass-produced vase, like its 7-lobe form, green glaze much like yours. No 'market' value much, just personal liking.

Good luck,
Cal
