Subject:Signature on oil painting

Does anyone have any idea of whose signature this is? I was told it was either chinese or japanese. Any help appreicated.

No, I donīt think this is a chinese character. Rather ATR as a monogram (better photo would help).The "T" is dominant and should represent the family name.The painting is decorative and colorful, but the brushstroke is rather amateur level, therefore you might not be able to identify the artist.

kd is quite right.

English or USA garden, think some 'hollyhocks'.

Maybe something from art class or as old as 1920s-1930s popular art fad.
