Thank you in advance for all answers.

Peter,

Looks more like USA pottery made Ohio 1910-1930s, using that brown glaze and same color scheme for flowers, 'Indian' portraits, other designs. Makers Roseville, Rookwood.

If is signature, initials or logo of artist has some art value, sometimes hard to find in painted part pottery. Both makers made marks on bottom.

Have also been much later re-makes. Clay visible bottom should be light tan yellowish color.

Do internet search you will see.

Good luck,
Cal

Peter,

What you have there is a small, Satsuma style flower vase (note the crackled ivory glaze in the picture panels). It is in a Western (for export) shape, roughly contemporaneous with Nippon and Nippon style wares, and dates from about the 1920s to the mid-1930s. However, even considering that some of the gold has rubbed off, the decoration is more restrained than most, more Japanese than Western taste. Pretty litte piece.

Thank you both for your answers.
I forgot to mention that the piece is only 6 cms high. Did such small flower vases exist?

Thanks again,
Peter

That is tiny! Maybe it is, as you suggest, a perfume, or perhaps it is a bud vase. In any event its small size makes me appreciate the painted panels even more - quite fine.

Yes, small. Probably rule out USA pottery unless made for doll house.

Sweet piece.

Good luck,
Cal
