Subject:Can anyone help confirm and appraise this Soapstone Seal?
Posted By: Soapstone Seal Wed, Dec 19, 2018 IP: 2600:1700:7fd0:6b50:

Found this in a antique store. It's labeled as a Soapstone Seal. Can anyone confirm that it is and what it might be worth? I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth the asking price because the store doesn't supply any certificate of authenticity or documentation on its history.

Any information on it's history would be very helpful. Thank you.

Looks like yellow dragon jade, a type of soap/seal stone mined in China and South East Asia.

This sample is from a quarrie in China.

This piece should not be a genuine antique - from the bottom of the seal I can see it says "皇帝御宝" (The Emperor's Treasure) while the details of the status including the workmanship etc. doesn't look like those owned by the Emperor :) It should be a real soapstone
