Posted By: Bill H Wed, Jan 16, 2019 This looks more like a type of pottery called "spongeware", which was popular during the 19th century, when it was made in the UK and USA. As the name indicates, the decoration is applied by sponges cut in various patterns; real sponges were used originally and nowadays artificial ones. I'm unaware of an exact correlation in Chinese pottery, though some ancient pottery in China had rudimentary transfer motifs stamped onto their surfaces in similar fashion. |
