Subject:Need help with symbols (artist and age) on painting (scroll)
Posted By: Werner Thu, Feb 21, 2019 IP: 2a02:8071:ac8:4e00:b

Hallo

Any help making out the age of this scroll and the name of the artist would be very much appreciated.

Thanks and best regards from Germany,

Werner

Some more pics from the righthand side of the scroll and one closeup. This scroll was bought in the 60s in the Far East.

Thanks and best regards,

Werner

The (probably late Qing) painting is signed and dated as being by the Yuan painter/calligrapher/statesman Zhao Mengfu but is not genuine. The appended colophon is signed by someone using the name 陂澤老人, but I am not sure who this is. That part may be genuine.

Thanks!

Which one is the (not genuine) signature from Zhao Mengfu? Where can I find it on the scroll? How can I see, that it is not genuine? What is different to a genuine signature from Zhao Mengfu?

Best regards,

Werner
