Qing? Ming? I bought a box of plates and bowls from an auction and a few of them I need help identifying.

Everything shown is Japanese but the bowl in the background of the 2nd picture, with contiguous blue and white border at the rim, which is Chinese and produced circa the 1st quarter of the 20th century. I've already answered your question and posted three images in the Message Board about the same dish. Herewith are three more pictures of a ten-inch bowl of mine in the same Daoist Star God pattern, with mark of "Made in the Imperial Kiln" (Guan Yao Nei Zao - 官窯內造). The website gotheborg.com seems to indicate some 19th century polychrome wares with this mark actually were made in the Imperial Kiln, however I'm a bit dubious about the blue & white pieces, since the pattern was in production after the Qing dynasty ended, and also was exported to Vietnam with this same mark.

I'll leave the Japanese dishes here for the expert collectors.

Best regards,

Bill H.
