Hello,
Could anyone please translate the seal mark on the base of my Chinese enamelled porcelain figure?
Thank you.
Regards,
Victoria.

Your figure of what looks to be an official or scholar in Han imperial dress borne on the backs of a pair of dragons or dragon carps (see my picture) has a mark of "Rong Ji Zhi Zao"/"榮記製造", meaning "Made by Rong Ji".

Mainland China online sources are calling this a Republic mark, and I found one on an image of the Bodhisattva Amitayus with an auction estimate equivalent to US$445.87. This mark may also be associated with a Republic-era company which used the mark of "Zhu Rongji Zao"/"朱榮記造", "Made by Zhu Rongji", on the base of images of the "Cloth-Sack Monk" or "Budai Heshang", also called the "Happy Buddha".

Here an image of a Chinese scholar borne on the back of a dragon carp to help you identify the creatures keeping your figure afloat.

Best regards,

Bill H.
