Subject:Longyanmu cabinet
Posted By: Stew Thu, Mar 14, 2019 IP: 42.3.134.150

I brought this cabinet down from Shanghai in the 90's. It is very heavy with thin shelves, lacquer inside. It is not a soft wood and, after some research, I believe that it might be longyanmu panels with a tielimu frame.

I note a similar piece on this forum (http://asianart.com/phpforum/index.php?method=detailAll&Id=77105) which is of the same design.

This cabinet is very dirty and, probably needs a loving clean with a zero-grade steel wool pad. But, I would be interested in your views on what I have.

My guess is that this is early Qing and is similar to items in Bonhams and Christies sales. Maybe Fujian?

I can post more photos when this is posted on the forum.

Hi Stew,
Based on information provided I would place a date of late Qing early republic period.
Should look great after some TLC.
Not sure about using your suggested treatment.
