Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada I (1786-1865) depicting two sumô wrestlers in action, flanked by the 'gyôji' (referee). The print was issued by the publisher Nishimuraya Yohachi around 1840.

The wrestlers are from the left, Koyanagi (小柳) and Oitekaze (追手風).

Your print is by Utagawa Kunisada and was printed before 1844 when he started signing as Toyokuni.

Cheers,
Stan
